Math animation

Math animation software
without code.

Animate equations and graphs without writing code: terms build one by one, curves draw themselves and every step lands on your words. Math animation software in Flowmotion, coming at launch.

Coming at launch: Flowmotion, Cutroom, Lab Partner · Coming soon: Storyroom

  1. Why it's hard today

Clear math animation has meant writing code for every scene, or nudging keyframes in a general video tool that doesn't know what an equation is. Both take hours per minute of video, so most lessons fall back to static slides.

  2. Equations

Type an equation and it is set in a proper math font. Choose the order its terms appear, and let one step morph into the next so viewers see which terms moved and which cancelled.

    • Typeset in STIX Two, with true minus signs
    • Terms build in the order you choose
    • Steps morph instead of cutting
  3. Graphs

Axes rise, ticks and labels settle and the curve draws on like a pen, with a point riding the tip. Labels keep clear of the curve, the axes and each other.

  4. Timing to your words

Record the explanation and attach each animation to a spoken word. If you re-record a sentence, the animations after it move with the new timing.

  5. An example lesson

A five-minute lesson on the derivative: the curve draws, a secant line slides toward the tangent as you say "closer", the limit builds term by term, and the result morphs into the final rule. Each beat is a scene in one Flowmotion project.

Questions

Good to know.

See the roadmap

No. Equations are typed and graphs are set up in Flowmotion's editor. Nothing has to be written as code.
