Design YouTube thumbnails from frames of your own video, with your brand kit, large readable type and every size from one design. A YouTube thumbnail maker in Wireframe, coming soon.

Coming at launch: Cutroom, Library · Coming soon: Wireframe, Lumen

  1. What makes a thumbnail readable

Thumbnails are seen small, next to a dozen others. One subject, three or four words at most, strong contrast between the subject and the background, and nothing important in the corner where the video length appears.

    • One subject, cut out cleanly
    • A few large words
    • Clear of the duration badge
  2. Frames from your video

The thumbnail lives in the same project as the edit, so any frame can be pulled in at full quality and cut out in one click.

  3. Sizes

Lay out the 16:9 thumbnail once, then get versions for a square post, a vertical story and a channel banner from the same design.

  4. Brand kit

Fonts, colors and logo come from your brand kit, so a row of your thumbnails reads as one channel.

See the roadmap

YouTube recommends 1280 × 720 pixels, a 16:9 ratio. Wireframe starts thumbnails at that size and previews them at the small sizes they appear in feeds.
