Text-based video editing

Edit video by
editing the text.

Edit video the way you edit a document: delete a sentence and the footage goes with it. Cutroom lets you edit video by editing text, and keeps every cut undoable. Coming at launch.

Coming at launch: Cutroom, Lab Partner · Coming soon: Resonance

  1. How it works

Cutroom transcribes your footage with the timing of every word. Select words in the transcript to select the video under them; delete, move or copy them and the edit follows.

  2. Removing filler

Find every "um", repeated start and long pause in one pass, review them, and remove the ones you want gone. Cuts are smoothed so the result doesn't jump.

    • Filler words found across the whole video
    • Long pauses shortened, not cut to nothing
    • Review before anything is removed
  3. Fine cuts on the timeline

The transcript and the timeline are two views of the same edit. Rough-cut in the text, then trim frames, add B-roll and multicam angles on the timeline.

  4. Captions

The transcript becomes your captions. Fix a word once and it is fixed in the captions too.
